BodEquip Ministries - Equipping the Body of Christ to Live Abundantly.

Movie Review: Luther

Quick Plot Summary: In a very broad way, tells the story of Martin Luther and ultimately the start of the Reformation.

Rating: Worthwhile
Suggested Ages: 12+

This movie was financially backed by Lutherans, which makes sense of course, and you do get the sense that because of that, some of what you are seeing in regards to Martin Luther is through "rose-colored" glasses. Regardless, this movie certainly can be enjoyed by all parts of the Body of Christ. It does help make Martin Luther and the important Reformation part of Church history come alive in a way that I've never seen before. It definitely does show what "dead religion" looks like and some of the contrast to that, which is good, though I wish it had gone farther with it.

Production quality was better both in acting and filming (sets, costumes, etc.) then I expected and was perfectly fine. With that said, I can't say that the actual execution of the story as they told it was all that powerful or moving, though it was still reasonably entertaining and held my interest well enough.
